Do We Truly Know God?

To be who God really wants us to be, we must know who God really is. Generally, we tend to be searching for ourselves, in a search to know ourselves better, which is excellent. We have to understand who we are and what we stand for. Understanding ourselves is essential for self-awareness. To make improvements in our lives, it is necessary to empower ourselves and make changes where needed. However, to glorify God, we must make it a priority to know who He really is. Many people may feel like they know God, but if we think about it, our idea of who He is, at least for many of us, came from other people rather than from God’s word. This is why our views or beliefs rarely match what the Bible says about God. Very few people have the key to God’s Holy Spirit; only those willing to accept His knowledge and those who obey Him and live by his precepts know what God is really like.

Let this not deter your pursue to be closer to God and to get to know Him better. In fact, make this a reason for you to want to get to know Him better and have a closer relationship with Him. One way to approach this is by looking at God as the Creator and Savior; this will make our worship stronger and more meaningful. 

Understanding God as a Creator and Savior helps us realize not only our feelings towards him but a deeper understanding of what makes him who He is. The more we know Him, the better we understand ourselves and what he wants from us. The more we know him, the greater appreciation we will have of who he really is.

“But it is written: What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived, the things God has prepared for those who love him. These are the thingsGod has revealed to us by his Spirit.” - Corinthians 2:9-10

God is our Creator; he is full of love and mercy. He forgives our sins and gives us eternal life as long as we truly repent. God is just, and his judgment should never be overlooked. He is our healer. With his Devine power, he can heal our bodies and our spirit even when no one else can, even when in our current society, His miracles are not always recognized. 

Compassion is also one of his greatest attributes, “The Lord is full of compassion and mercy” - James 5:11

Knowing God is not just about gaining knowledge but also about recognizing his calling and learning how we can receive his glory. In conclusion, if we’re looking to transform our lives and our relationships, we must seek to understand our Creator so we may experience his power and how He works in our life..

For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. - Romans 1:20
