Serenity Prayer
The Serenity prayer is a very popular one. It was widely used during sermons, Sunday school and other groups. It was written by an American theologist. We may all have heard the shorten version of it which encompasses the main idea and that is - To accept and submit to God because he is in control and he has a plan for our life. It doesn’t matter how much we may want to control a situation or a person, it is God that ultimately decides what and when something will happen. Accepting God is in control will help us find peace in situations we cannot control.
Bring your worries and concerns to Him and he will hear you.
Full Version
God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever and ever in the next.
Amen.
Shortened Version
God, grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change,
the courage to change the things we can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
