Walking in Faith

“Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” -

This is a great scripture for when we feel like things aren’t going right or we feel like we’re losing our way and walking in the dark, moving away from God. We need God to show us the way and bring us back into the light, we need him to give us the strength to get through every challenge.

God is faithful and full of mercy. If we unload our fears and frustrations onto him, he will show compassion, he will guide us and empower us. All we have to do is call upon him and we can be sure he will answer.

Dear Lord, please give us undivided hearts so we may rely on your faithfulness. Let us break out of our old ways and surrender to you. Heal our wounds and save us from all the toxic thoughts we may have. I know you are a loving Father and everything you do is to bring us closer to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Finding Solace in Surrender

When life unravels, it's easy to get caught up in trying to manipulate outcomes. We grasp for solutions, trying to fix everything on our own, but often end up feeling more anxious and overwhelmed. However, there's a different way to navigate these challenging times. The Bible invites us to surrender our worries and fears to a loving God, who promises to guide and strengthen us. In , we're reminded, "But I trust in you, Lord; I say, 'You are my God.' My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from the hands of those who pursue me."

Surrender doesn't mean giving up; it means letting go of our need to dictate the course of events. This can be a difficult but liberating practice, especially when we're used to relying solely on ourselves. I recall a particularly tough time in my own life when I had to surrender my plans and expectations to God. I had been struggling to find a new job, and despite my best efforts, nothing seemed to be working out. One day, I decided to take a step back, pray, and surrender my job search to God. I asked him to guide me and provide for my needs. It wasn't easy, but as I let go of my need to control the outcome, I began to feel a sense of peace and trust that God was working everything out for my good. For instance, I remember a friend who was facing a serious health issue, and instead of trying to control the situation, she chose to surrender it to God, praying for healing and guidance. As she did, she found comfort in the prayers and support of her community, and eventually, she received the news that she was in remission. I also think about a time when our community came together to support a family in need - we organized meals, childcare, and even helped with household chores. By surrendering to God and working together, we were able to provide the family with a sense of security and comfort during a difficult time. By surrendering to God, we open ourselves up to His guidance, comfort, and peace. As we release our grip on the situation, we can begin to experience a sense of calm and trust, knowing that God is working everything out for our good.

So, how can you start practicing surrender in your own life? Begin by taking a few deep breaths and acknowledging God's presence with you. Say a simple prayer, like, "Lord, I trust you. I surrender my worries and fears to you. Guide me and give me strength to navigate this challenging time." As you pray, imagine any tension or anxiety leaving your body, and God's peace filling you up. Remember, surrender is a process, and it may take time to develop this practice. But with patience, faith, and trust, you can find solace in surrender and experience God's loving care in the midst of chaos.
