A Love Prayer
Most of us are very familiar with the Corinthians love passage. It is often used during wedding ceremonies or greeting cards. It means that we’re supposed to love one another, be more patient and kind to each other.Â
Love is patient, love is kind.Â
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.Â
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.Â
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.Â
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Â
Love never fails.
Corinthians 13:4-8
By making a small modification instead of applying it to ourselves, this passage can change the perspective of our current interpretation, it gives us a whole new meaning and a very clear picture of God’s fatherhood and how loving he is. Take a look at how this small change could potentially shift the way we pray.
God is patient, God is kind.
He does not envy, he does not boast, he is not proud.Â
He does not dishonor others, he is not self-seeking,
He is not easily angered, he keeps no record of wrongs.Â
God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.Â
He always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Â
God never fails.Â
We all know we’re supposed to trust God but when you’re given such powerful description of the person who is asking us to trust him it just makes it a lot easier.
God will never fail, he will always love us.
