Praying for Fathers Around the World

As we prepare to celebrate Father’s Day with thoughtful gestures and gifts to show our appreciation for all that they do, let's take a moment to pray for fathers around the world. For those who have taken upon themselves the responsibility of parenting, for stepdads, and those who have not been blessed with the privilege of being biological fathers but still love and care for their children as if they were their own. I think of my own father, who worked tirelessly to provide for our family, and the countless ways he demonstrated his love and support, like the time he stayed up late to help me with a school project, his patience and guidance a comfort to me in a challenging moment as he explained each step clearly and encouraged me to keep trying. For men who help shape the character of children, guiding them to become great men and women of faith and integrity, we offer our gratitude. We also remember those who are grieving the loss of their dads, and those who have lost their own children, may they find comfort in their memories and the knowledge that they are not alone. Let’s celebrate this day with a prayer from the heart. As I reflect on my own life, I'm reminded of the importance of fatherly guidance, and I recall a family friend who took me to his workshop and taught me how to fix a broken bicycle, showing me the value of perseverance and hard work in a practical way.

Dear God, today we pray for fathers everywhere. We ask for your blessings and guidance so they continue to be positive influences and good role models to their children. Give them strength and patience to face any tribulations they may be presented with. Lord, we ask you to guide them in their daily work and let them know you are with them. We also pray for those who are no longer with us but will live forever in our hearts. Bless these men on this day, fill them with love, compassion, and peace, and remind them of your constant presence in their lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. - Joshua 1:9
