Every Christian Has a Guardian Angel

Every Christian Has a Guardian Angel

Angels are everywhere, figuratively and literally. We see them on paintings, figurines, clothing and just about everything we can imagine. But, do Angels really exist? This question has been asked and debated for a long time. The idea is that every person has an angel to guard them and a demon to tempt them. The belief in guardian angels comes from early Christian texts that mention angels such as this parable in the Bible:

Matthew 18:10
See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.

Some think this verse indicates that the ā€œlittle onesā€ are the believers and each believer has an angel in heaven assigned to them. These texts donā€™t say anything about what the angels do but, despite that, there are other passages in the Bible that mention angels like this one:

Daniel 6:22
My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouth of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.

In the Old Testament angels are mentioned multiple times. It says that angels are Godā€™s messengers, they were created to obey Godā€™s will. Angels are not as powerful as God, though they do possess immense strength. Angels deliver information and guide us through difficult moments, they carry out Godā€™s answers to our prayers.

If these remarkable creatures were sent to watch over us and deliver messages from God; it is important to keep in mind that the messenger is never more important than the sender.

Perhaps these special messengers from God will be our companions and carry us to heaven when the time comes, they will be the first ones to see our joy as we pass through the gates of heaven. Whether angels are real or just a figment of our imagination, their presence continues to comfort many.
