Is God Opening a Door

Have you ever wondered if something was a sign from God or just wishful thinking? It can be challenging to figure out whether something was a sign from Him or just a “distraction” to deter you from your path. Everyone has a different view when it comes to messages from God. They could be anything from a gut feeling to a shape in the clouds, sometimes it may not seem like a sign to anyone but you. So how do we know what we experience come from God? I think the answer is simply that old saying, “when you know, you know.” No need to overthink.

Sometimes our plans start falling apart, maybe because we’re not doing what God wants us to do, so he tries to correct us by sending us a set of circumstances or obstacles that will bring us back on track or take us in the direction He wants us to go. God knows what is best for us, though it may sometimes seem that there is no reason for certain things to happen. We feel as though everything was going well, and suddenly things change; remember that He has a reason, we may not see that at first, but if we pay attention and listen closely, we’ll see that He may be pushing us out and into a situation for our own good.

Another way to know when God has sent us a sign or an opportunity is by recognizing if what we have at our door aligns with God’s Word. As an example, God will not give you the chance to get revenge from someone that hurt you or act in a way that goes against his word. If an opportunity such as this knocks at your door, it is very likely it didn’t come from Him.

You will know when something comes from God, especially if you have been praying for it. So, if you have been praying for an opportunity, maybe a new job or healing for a loved one, He will certainly answer. Make sure you welcome that opportunity because nothing is impossible for God. There are other ways of discerning God’s voice in our lives; it could be a rainbow, a cloud, or even just a gut feeling; we just have to listen closely.

I would love to know your thoughts and experiences on how God has opened doors for you, how he has shown you the way even when there was no where to go. Feel free to add your comments below!

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. - Revelation 3:20
